Private contact identity: Your mobile number lets people who already have that number in their own contacts discover your Direct identity. Synced phonebook numbers are matched with one-way hashes, and Direct does not expose another user's raw phone number. A mutual Direct connection is still required before Velvet walkie-talkie becomes available.
